Where Architecture Meets Nature

This modern home in Mendota Heights, Minnesota was designed for empty nesters seeking to create a new chapter — a place to age gracefully in style, surrounded by nature. With expansive views of the landscape, the design celebrates open living while maintaining intimacy, connecting indoors and outdoors seamlessly.

Bronze-framed windows capture the surrounding scenery, filtering natural light while solar shades ensure comfort and privacy. Sliding glass walls open to patios, blurring the boundary between house and garden, while clerestory windows bring in even more daylight.

The interiors balance modern restraint with warmth and livability. A grand stone fireplace anchors the living area, paired with sculptural furnishings that scale to the home’s soaring architecture. The kitchen is the heart of the home, with a bold island clad in Calacatta marble and a walnut base, framed by a backsplash of steel, glass, and cascading textures. A round breakfast table softens the geometry, creating a casual space for daily gatherings.

Art and furnishings add color and energy, from sculptural lighting to textured rugs and bold seating, while Miami-inspired décor brings scale and personality. Carefully curated finishes — bronze, walnut, steel, stone, and crisp white surfaces — establish a timeless palette that feels modern yet warm.

The result is a modern residence that’s elegant, functional, and deeply connected to its site — a sanctuary designed for both quiet moments and vibrant entertaining.
