Garden to Table with Lucy!

Setting the table is one of our great loves. Creating tablescapes for the entertainer extraordinaire or prepping for the party girl makes our souls just sing. Recently, Lucy had the fun opportunity to do a special event using a fusion of garden flowers, outdoor dining, and entertaining for the Boca Grande Garden Club. We embraced the concept of a garden inspired table and put the Lucy spin on it. From Garden to Table, both settings are lush with flowers + garden elements, but in a completely different way. It’s all about that mix: seriously beautiful, but not too serious. At Lucy, we love to have a little fun, while still designing pretty!

SOIRÉE IN THE GARDEN

For English garden lovers, this one is for you! Inspired by sweet soft blush pinks and wild roses, these flowers are full, like just hand-picked from your garden. It’s a proper soirée in an English garden infused with a little tropical essence. Gorgeous but not stuffy! The magic of the candlelight dancing along the center where the flowers are low enough that you can see through.

Let’s build the tablescapes together: A custom-made Schumacher tablecloth with pineapple cotton glaze chintz from the 1930s, has that sort of nod to yesteryear. Hand-blocked textile, also a Schumacher print designed by British artist Molly Mahon, was sewed into 22-inch dinner napkins. For a little whimsy + a touch of sass, we added parakeet napkin rings by Kim Seybert from Newlins in Boca. The fresh picked flowers from Boca Blooms sit in plump in white porcelain vases, while gold chargers and flatware add a little vintage style. Acrylic fluted stemware is a must for outdoor dining + relaxes the mood. 16×16 peony paper placemats are the first tantalizing layer. Hand-painted Portuguese China, from a favorite vintage shop in Scottsdale, adds a global-infusion atop the beautiful Schumacher tablecloth. Lucy includes her signature party favors for every occasion, because why not celebrate life + being together! And the creme de la creme, a mini jar of French jam from Bonne Maman as the party favor for a little “Vivre la vie.”

AN EVENING UNDER THE PALMS

Join us for a taste of the tropics under the palms, you can almost feel the breeze. This is about not holding back, no refrain here, and Lucy always loves to play up scale, adding a little drama and curiosity. Safe is rather dull + boring! We wanted to capture that lush, layered wildness, the feeling of controlled chaos. The wispyness of the big palm leaves—natural fan palms, monstera palms—snipped beachside. With the ocean blues + greens added orange for flair. A very live and let live spirit! We love how the birds of paradise look almost like they are taking flight out of their vintage ceramic vases. Shop island favorite Boca Bargains to uncover treasures castaway by locals. Lucy always finds a gem to bring home.

Returning to our tropical tablescapes, we brought it back to earth with bamboo flatware and cane-wrapped glasses and hurricanes. Mixing in dried leaves with fresh palms for a modern-day style. From Anthropologie, hand-painted tiger glasses for wine, keep it sweet and wild! The custom-sewn tablecloth is made of navy Palm Botanical fabric by Thibaut, from their Escape to Tropics collection. Vietri fish plates and Santorini pasta bowls are the perfect serving pieces for a Mediterranean dinner. We added a dash of pink with tie-dye napkins—the unexpected color here—and the sassy tassel-charm napkin rings for whimsy of course.

For the entertainer extraordinaires, we created menu cards + place cards. We love to scramble up the seating to maximize the mingle during dinner conversation. As hosts, it’s important to make our guests feel special with their own place card—and this event was all about feeling special! Whether you dine in the garden or under the stars beachside, we will always have a place at the table ready for you! Thank you for joining us as our guest!
