Cheers to 15 Years of Color! Starting with Blue

Cheers to 15 Years of Color! All year—in celebration of our 15th anniversary—we’re bringing you some of our favorite rooms, spaces that capture all that’s bright and bold and joyful and fun! Follow along as we celebrate 15 Years of Lucy all year long!

When Pantone announced Classic Blue as the Color of the Year for 2020, we feel like maybe they had a bit of a psychic moment. We love blue: It’s a timeless shade that symbolizes peace, tranquility and dependability, which in this time of uncertainty feels just so necessary.

We use blues, including Classic Blue, a lot in our designs—inky blues that capture the infinite evening sky, t he serene blue of the ocean— but we especially love shades that reflect the vibrancy and optimism of our clients.

Take a look at some of our favorite rooms and get inspired to incorporate blue into your home!

Lucy Interior Design, Cheers to 15 Years

The bold blue of this Brad Durham painting sets the scene for this Naples penthouse condo: We wanted to truly celebrate the joy of coastal living, while showcasing our client’s fanciful art collection. Naples is like a home away from home for us—it’s a land of sunshine, smiles and miles of sandy beaches—and we used the bold blue art, cool wall sconces, a fun avocado accent chair and pretty plants to capture that pizazz in this Florida retreat. It features so many great blues and greens, but our favorite hue is the amazing blue view of the Gulf of Mexico through the floor-to-ceiling windows!

Lucy Interior Design, Bridgehampton Summer House

We’ve all been day-dreaming of sunny days, blue skies and warmer weather and hurrah, spring is here! Open that front door and let in a beautiful sweet breeze! We get swept away every time we step foot into this grand foyer, with its soaring ceiling, beautiful paneling and splendid stair. But we especially adore this day dreamer’s bench in a kicky shade of blue, that is perfectly perched to catch us. Come on in and have a seat!

Lucy Interior Design, Lake Cottage

We love how the classic combo of blue and white add some sunny, carefree vibes to this bright and cheery sunroom. It’s like a little piece of summer, no matter the season. We love to create happy places for our clients to hang with their friends and family. When you embrace a carefree spirit in your home design, you and your guests will be more at ease, which is exactly the feel we wanted to capture for this special spot on the lake.

Yes, we’re thrilled it’s finally spring, but we also can’t wait because summer is just around the corner! Dust off your golf shoes and clubs and tennis racquets and whites and get ready to get sporty. The mudroom in this summer cottage features plenty of custom cabinetry to keep all of that equipment tucked away and Thibault wallpaper to add some playful bright blue. We think there should be joy in every corner of your home, and that goes double for hardworking spaces, like mudrooms.

Lucy Interior Design, Lakeside Condo

Be our guest! We believe in giving our guests the very best and we love how this compact guest room feels like opening a sapphire jewel box. It’s small, velvet lined and divine. And it’s full of treasures like fabulous built-in cubbies and a tall velvet tufted headboard in a dramatic dark blue. The bed is covered with a hand-embroidered linen duvet and—our favorite touch—dreamy down pillows with vintage Chanel scarf covers. We’d never want to leave.

Lucy Interior Design, Moroccan Lounge

Behold, Casablanca Blue! Inspired by the bold cobalt blue doors and crisp white stucco buildings we swooned over on a trip to Morocco, this powder room feels like a quick trip to another world. Hammered tin sconces made by an artist in Santa Fe and sky high Waterworks 1×2 blue glass tile set the stage, while terrazzo tile with cobalt specks brings the floor to life. The arch moldings on the custom vanity are also a nod to this inspiring destination. Bathrooms don’t need to be boring!

Lucy Interior Design, Traditional Mediterranean

A merry mudroom? Why not! It’s the first room you see when you arrive home, and the last to say goodbye as you go off for your day. The Clarence House signature Tibet tiger wallpaper in Blues and Turkish runner adds glamour and whimsy to this bustling, busy space. Designed for a household of active teens, each has their own cubby big enough to store all of their outerwear, footwear and sports gear, smartly out of sight. Super spacious and super organized, that’s how we keep everyone super happy at this house!

You can see, no matter your style or location, blue could be the right hue for you. Which shade is calling your name? Color is our specialty at Lucy Interior Design. Give us a call at 612-339-2225 or send us a note!
